Scholarships for Hispanic College Students

The following scholarships have been announced by the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) for college students:

The HACU Scholarship Program 2016-2017 application is OPEN.


The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities is pleased to offer scholarship opportunities to assist in defraying some of your college expenditures. Please review each scholarship’s criteria carefully to see if you qualify.

Additional scholarship opportunities will be added as they become available prior to the fall 2016 semester.

In addition, all scholarship applicants MUST meet the following criteria:

  1. Demonstrate financial need if required by scholarship sponsor (typically determined by FAFSA).
  2. Meet specific criteria for the scholarships to which they are applying.
  3. Attend a HACU-member college or university in the U.S. or Puerto Rico at the time applications are completed and scholarship awards are made.  For the most up-to-date listing of HACU member institutions, please click here.

  5.  Scholarships are ONLY for enrolled college students. All students must have completed their first semester of freshman year at the time of applying. High School students are not eligible to apply.

Café Bustelo El Café Del Futuro Scholarship Essay Contest- $5,000 - Full-time undergraduate or graduate students attending a four-year HACU-member institution within the United States or Puerto Rico. Students will be required to complete an 800 word essay on the following topic: Describe how your Latino heritage, family, and the community in which you grew up have impacted your desire and motivation to obtain a college degree. Additionally, describe what you intend to accomplish with your degree and how you will give back to your community.

Application Deadline: Friday, May 27, 2016Supporting documents (enrollment verification form and a letter of recommendation from a school advisor, community leader or mentor) must be postmarked no later than May 27, 2016.
