Applying to OCU

Oklahoma City University offers several methods for applying: the Common Application, and the institutional application on our website. OCU offers rolling admissions, but in order to be considered for the full range of scholarships, please encourage your students to apply by March 1, 2017.

Students may include a ZeeMee profile, which is a free service that helps students bring their applications to life. They can sign up at ZeeMee.com and copy and paste the link into the OCU application.

In addition to the application, your student must submit an essay, official high school transcript, official SAT and/or ACT scores, a counselor letter of recommendation, and the $55 application fee. Once the completed application is received, an admissions counselor will review and make a decision. If your student is applying as a performing arts major, an audition is required. Information varies by department, so please encourage your students to research and sign up early for their auditions.

Regular admission standards include a 22 ACT or SAT equivalent and a cumulative 3.0 GPA. Please have your students contact their admissions counselor if they have any additional questions. We appreciate all the work you do in assisting your students through this process.

Freshmen Scholarships

At Oklahoma City University, the application for admission is also the application for most scholarships. Students are strongly encouraged to apply for admission and scholarships early while scholarships are most abundant. In most cases, scholarships are stackable, but may not exceed the cost of tuition. Please see each scholarship for individual consideration deadlines.

NOTE: The February 2017 ACT and the January 2017 SAT are the last exams considered for a scholarship upgrade. SAT scores are based on the redesigned SAT that was launched March 2016. If your student has scores taken prior to March 2016, please direct them to contact their admissions counselor. The seventh semester high school transcript is the last transcript where academic and departmental scholarship upgrades are guaranteed (exceptions would be strongly considered for students in talent programs (academic and athletic) having performance-based competitions or auditions post-March).

If a student receives a substantial special university scholarship (50% tuition covered or more, e.g. Pageant Scholarships) during their time at OCU, this replaces their academic and departmental awards for the semester(s) awarded. Additional semester use of academic and departmental awards are not added to make up for semesters the awards were replaced for a substantial special university scholarship.

Freshmen University Academic Merit Scholarships

Competitive Scholarships

Oklahoma City University offers a full variety of competitive scholarship opportunities for incoming freshmen. A complete list can be found online.

What you need to know about the 2017-2018 FAFSA

1. Students will be able to submit the FAFSA earlier. Beginning with the 2017-2018 academic year, they will now be able to submit the FAFSA as early as October 1, 2016, rather than beginning on January 1, 2017.

2. Students will use earlier income and tax information. Beginning with the 2017-2018 FAFSA, students and their parents (if applicable) will report their 2015 income and tax information, rather than their 2016 income and tax information. This is referred to as Prior-Prior Year (PPY).

Because the FAFSA will ask for Prior-Prior Year, applicants will have already done their taxes by the time the FAFSA is available, eliminating the need to estimate tax information and then go back and update the FAFSA later.

Please visit okcu.edu/financialaid for more information or contact the Office of Student Financial Services at 405-208.5211.
