|August 1: Fall 2017 Deadline!
We are still reviewing applications on a rolling basis until theAugust 1 deadline. Decisions are made within two weeks of receiving completed application materials. Students should submit their application as soon as possible to secure space in the residence halls and at orientation.
|Advising Students on Course Selection
Students should take courses each year in math, science, and English. Our best STEM applicants will have taken at least pre-calculus and above, along with honors or AP science courses such as physics, chemistry, and biology. Electives that are relevant to the student’s intended major are beneficial.
|How to Write Strong Supplemental Essays
Students need to be able to answer “Why Illinois Tech?” and“Why my major?” They’ll stand out if they’ve done research, visited campus, and engaged in their field of interest—whether it’s an independent summer project, entrepreneurial endeavor, summer programs and courses, a side job, or extracurricular activities.
|Answering Questions, Clarifying Terms
We are a small, private, STEM-focused institution. What does that mean? 3,000 undergrads and 4,000 grads. Same tuition for in-state and out-of-state students. Classes with an underlying foundation in math, science, and technology, and programsranging from business and applied technology to human sciences and architecture.
|Summer Hours and Visits
We will remain open Monday–Friday, 9 a.m.–5 p.m. for students to take advantage of daily visits, campus tours, and professor meetings. In addition, students can register online for Discover Day at Illinois Tech, which will be held on Saturday, July 22. Ideal for rising juniors and seniors, this is a half-day event with information on academics, campus life, admission, financial aid, and more.
