Georgia Tech Minute: Here’s what’s happening on campus Georgia Tech Minute: Here’s what’s happening on campus…

Happy New Year … Welcome back to school! If nobody has said that to you yet, I will let you determine if it’s because of your particular school calendar or if you just work with unfriendly people.

Today, Aug. 20, was our first day of classes at Tech. It is always exciting to see the names from spreadsheets actually show up and move into their residence halls.

As our team heads back out on the road for recruitment travel, our goal is to serve as a resource for you about Georgia Tech and the college admission process, in general.

To that end, I wanted to share two items we hope will help you counsel students:

  1. Our new first-year class profile. This provides you with current and historical information on Georgia Tech admission and the academic performance of our students.
  2. Our College Selection Guide. We created this general resource to help you facilitate productive conversations and potentially reframe a student’s college search and selection experience.

We deeply appreciate what you do each day in your school community. If we can help in any way, please reach out to our communication (calm-unication) center.

Our staff is excited about having a great year ahead. Let’s do that together.

Go Jackets!

P.S. Did you know? More than half of our students have an international experience before they graduate. Check out their stories here.

2019 First-Year Application Is Available Now!
The 2019 application for first-year students became available this week. Here’s what you need to know:

Counselor Portal
We’re excited to share that we will be utilizing Slate.org to communicate with you about your students’ applications, including their status (complete or incomplete), missing materials, and final admission decision. Once you activate your account, you will also be able to upload documents for individual students. Visit Slate.org to get started.

While we enjoyed phone, fax, email, smoke signals, owls, and other modes of communication in the past, we believe this will make life easier for everyone.

Success in College and Beyond
Georgia Tech is committed not only to enrolling the world’s best students, but also to helping them succeed on campus and beyond. We are extremely proud of our 97 percent retention rate, as well as the job placement rate for our graduates. Check out more from Business Insider and Zippia.
