Coming Up at Eckerd: Summer Science Splash Camp
Waves are all around us and we experience them in different ways: ocean waves knocking us over, sound waves delivering our favorite songs, and light waves exposing our surroundings.
This summer Eckerd will host a one-week residential science camp for students entering 7th, 8th, and 9th grade titled Catch the Wave: The International Year of Light. The United Nations (through UNESCO) has designated 2015 as International Year of Light and our camp has been chosen by UNESCO as an International Year of Light event.
This is a hands-on program where students will explore the types and functions of waves through the observation of cosmic bar codes, Kool-Aid spectroscopy, and the creation of holograms and rainbows, among other related activities.
